Welcome to our St. Swithin section on iChild!

This Christian Feast Day is celebrated on 15th July.

In 852 Swithin was made Bishop of Winchester, a position he held until his death in 862. He is remembered in the old rhyme: "St. Swithin's Day if thou dost rain, For forty das it will remain, St. Swithin's Day if thou be fair, For forty days 'twill rain nae mare."

So we always hope for a sunny St. Swithin's Day!
