Money Mules awareness programme: Don't Be Fooled
Welcome to our Money Mules awareness section: Don't Be Fooled
Don't be Fooled is a collaboration between UK Finance and Cifas. It aims to inform young people about the risks of giving out their bank details, and deter them from becoming money mules.
A money mule is someone who receives stolen money into their bank account and transfers it into another account, keeping some of the cash for themselves. Criminals need money mules to launder the profits of their crimes, and are increasingly targeting young people. Being a money mule is illegal. We have created a primary and secondary resource and assembly presentation to support teachers in raising awareness of this serious issue. These education resources have received the prestigious Quality Mark award from Young Money. New SEND teaching resources are now available too.
There is also a digital letter for parents, a digital information flyer for students, plus two warning posters that you can print out. You can also download a free zip file for the Primary and SEND resources here and download a free zip file for the Secondary and SEND resources here with the resources shown below. Or you can download free Welsh language resources here.
If you are worried that a child you know might be involved in money muling, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
