Trooping the Colour
Welcome to our Trooping the Colour section on iChild!
Like his mother before him, King Charles III will celebrate his office birthday in June, in a ceremony called “Trooping the Colour”.
Trooping the Colour is a military parade which goes all the way back to the 17th century. The guards who take part in the parade are the Household Division, one of the oldest regiments in the British Army. The ‘colours’ means the flags representing the different regiments, which helped soldiers spot their own unit when they were on the battlefield. Trooping the Colour has marked the official birthday of the British monarch for over 260 years.
