This year, the nation is celebrating Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years on the throne! Queen Elizabeth II is the first ever British monarch to celebrate a platinum jubilee. The Queen came to the throne on 6th February 1952 and her coronation took place at Westminster Abbey on 2nd June 1953.
