Welcome to our section on English for Year 5

We are proud to be working with the Primary Officer of the National Association for the Teaching of English (NATE) to create this repository of teaching opportunities.

The beautifully-illustrated PowerPoints will save you considerable preparation time, as the resources take children step by step through the teaching sequence from reading to writing. Each year group has three resources: fiction, non-fiction and poetry, with the same theme threaded through all units of work, based on the theme of the terrifically exciting tale of Treasure Island. Each resource can be adapted to the needs of your class, and can be used over several lessons.
