GoldPoetry: Treasure Island
This resource has been produced in collaboration with the National Association for the Teaching of English (NATE). The Teaching Sequence for Writing is still the recommended approach to the teaching of reading and writing.
It will give children opportunities to read an extract of a poem linked to the story, Treasure Island, and others linked to sailing and the sea. They will then have a go at being poets themselves.
This resource can be easily adapted to the needs of your class, and can cover several lessons. It comprises a PDF file, which indexes the accompanying PowerPoint and provides printable versions of the poems; and a PowerPoint presentation (the main body of the resource).
