GoldNon-fiction: The Titanic
This resource has been produced in collaboration with the National Association for the Teaching of English (NATE). The Teaching Sequence for Writing is still the recommended approach to the teaching of reading and writing.
Titanic non-fiction sets the scene of those working on the building of the Titanic, before presenting a selection of reports, articles and other forms of factual writing from the time for children to ‘read as a reader’ and to then ‘read as a writer’. This is followed by a series of exercises, which will lead to children having a go at their own non-fiction writing.
This resource can be easily adapted to the needs of your class, and can cover several lessons. It comprises a PDF file, which indexes the accompanying PowerPoint and provides a simple 'Tell-Me Grid' worksheet; and the PowerPoint presentation, the main body of the resource.
The original illustrations are supplied by kind permission of Stella Perrett, Radical Cartoons. The links within the resources were correct at the time of publication (October 2022).
